Duh!

Canada gets it. How is something like this BAD for families? This looks like it's going to pass, and I hope it does.

Micro buy-in SnGs

I've been crushing the $2+.25 SnGs at Absolute. The last 3 I played in I took 1st, 2nd, and 1st again. I've been staying super tight until a couple of folks have been knocked out and the blinds start getting big. No one respects a raise early, and you get sucked out on ALL the time. Usually, when it's time to start playing "correct" poker, there's still one player who is an undisciplined maniac, and their aggression has given them a massive chip lead. Camp for monsters and knock away at their stack, they'll be gone soon enough. I've noticed that they are usually gone by the time it hits ITM, and the players who haven't watched too much WPT and think that they're Gus Hansen can battle it out like normal human beings. And that selective aggression pays off here. {smile}

Boom!

Check this out. I hope it's a real ad.

Better late than never

I'm going to hell for posting a link to this. Thanks for the laghs, Terri.

It could be cool...

...or it could suck, but it sounds like The Smashing Pumpkins are getting back together. I can only dream of another release that kicks as much ass as their debut ablbum, "Gish". "Siva" (track 2), anyone?
Makes me want to play some stock-class speedball.
"Check it!" ;-)

Lost

The stupidity of some people is quite amazing to me. I wonder if this kid will choose to stop breathing because there's air pollution?

The autopsy is out

and I no longer have ambiguous feelings about the Terri Schiavo situation. I'm glad she was allowed to die. She passed her expiration date a long time ago.

Poker is okay

I was on a bit of a downswing at Absolute, but things are turning around. Took 1st in a little SnG today. Yay!

Whoops

My boss asked for a report about 20 minutes ago that I was supposed to produce for her two days ago. Grrrr! Me fucked up. Fortunately, it was quick to run and it's now on our server for her viewing pleasure. I also added a column with a stupid little "If" statement and an autofilter (it's all Excel) that should make the report easier to use.

I need to not piss the boss off. Her email was somewhat, uh, terse? I think that's the word I'm looking for. I also think she's a little PMS-y. She gets this way sometimes with little annoyances. I'll think she'll make my life a lot more complicated within a day or two, and then everything is peaches and cream. If somebody out there has an alternate explanation, let me know. I'd love to hear it.

Up too late last night

I was up until about 3 playing poker online. I was getting my ass kicked, I'd busted out of a $6+1 NL tourney in 5th and dropped some cash at the .25 and .10 tables. I cleared the first $10 of my bonus, though. Anyhow, this was earlier in the night. I turned the computer off for a little bit, then came back to it at the 6max .10 tables. Dropped 2 $4 buy-ins right away, then got in at a 6max .25 table. I bought in for the minimum ($10), and called some of it away on hands that didn't hit. Then the cards warmed up for me... ! I was playing some tricky hands, middle suited connectors and 1 gappers (along with the usual group 0-2 hands), limping the stuff with limited potential, of course, and as Fnord at FTR says, "dropping the fucking hammer" when they hit. I made up for my losses earlier in the night + a good bit of gravy. I didn't write the names of those players down, and I'm now regretting it. Absolute has a fish finder, and those morons will pay you off 9 out of 10 times.

Man, poker is sure a cruel bitch, but when she's good, she's very, VERY good.

LUPE IS OKAY!!!!!

SO ARE ENRIQUE AND FATIMA! Sorry about the caps, but I'm just a little happy and excited. Jenny and her (Jenny's) Mom went to Enrique's school when it was getting out so that they would hopefully run into Lupe, and they did. L has been depressed and I'm sure has a plethora of other excuses as to why she hasn't been in contact with us, but she doesn't think we're "the enemy" for pushing about pressing charges against Andre/Tony Avilar whateverhisfuckingnameis, and she's on meds now and climbing out of that hole. She might come over Saturday. She's doing the stuff she needs to get housing and help from the DV organization.

I am relieved. I hope to get back into their lives to the same extent I was involved earlier. I'm sure Enrique wants to see us again, and he could definitely use the stability.

YAY!

Absolute Poker

I started playing at Absolute this past weekend, and am doing okay. Got a 50% deposit bonus that I'm trying to work off. The BR is pretty steady, win some lose some, but the points are building up. I've been playing at the .05/.10 and .15/.25 NL ring tables, and am most of the way to clearing the first 10 bonus dollars. Been making some money at the .10 tables, losing a little at .25, but that's where I'm getting the most raked hand points. Played a 6+1 tournament last night, but everyone was super tight and the blinds were pretty big when I busted out in 6th. Note to self - don't make the call when you strongly suspect you're beat, even when "pot committed". You can always claw your way back with better hands, even short stacked, especially when the blinds are that high.

I still have a job

Layoffs were today and nobody kicked me in the nuts. You heard it here first.
