Running good (poker)

I went to Tulalip yesterday for the championship. I had qualified in 3 divisions for an extra 2000 starting chips, for a total of 5k. I donked it away. I was not able to sufficiently modify my style for the table. The seating order at my table was Tyler, Drew, me, an average player whoose name I don't remember, DanG, DanE, and JohnS. Cards weren't coming for me, I was unable to steal blinds or make any bluffs, and surrounded by aggresion. This was doubleplus ungood for me, and I was out by the end of the third blind round.
So, that wasn't running good, but the cash game... I managed to crush that. It was $50/$100 NLHE with 1-2 blinds. I was a donkfish for a couple of hours there, getting a feel for my game again. I bought in for the max, $100, and was very swingy, at one point dwindling down to $18. Then the comeback began, and what a comeback it was. I doubled up a few times through a combination of smart play and sucking out, then was swinging between $100 and $200 for a while. I got to a more steady point where I was hovering around $200, and really started crushing the table when Dan and I were the only SPO players left at it. I busted this loud drunk a couple of times, sunglasses dude a couple spots to my left donated some huge pots, and Indian dude across the table got destacked a couple times as well. They were all pretty aggressive, and I found my Pooh-like "thinking spot" where I was patient and contemplative. It helped that the dealers were card racks. I got AA in the hole 3 times in 15 minutes, back to back one of those times, and the thinking helped when I let go of QQ when facing a standard-ish bet after an A hit the flop. I had ID all tilty when I teased him about touching his cards and greasing them up when he was eating Nachos, and he was all pissed about it. I was just teasing and explained as much, but he wanted to bust my ass. I used it to my advantage and let him donk a bunch of chips my way. Anyhow, that's the story of how I turned $100 into over $800. It was a good night for poker.

Seaside in a couple weeks

Jenny and I will be going to Seaside, OR in a couple of weeks for a wedding and my family reunion. The wedding reception should be a lot of fun. I really enjoy Sharon (groom's mom) and her family, and her husband makes an amazing prime rib. I'm drooling already...
J and I also have my family reunion to go to in Gearhart (the next town N of Seaside). I'm looking forward to seeing some folks again, and probably meeting some others as well. There's gonna be a ton of extended family, so it will be interesting. What I'm not much looking forward to is seeing my Mom. I can already hear her whiney screech of a voice disparaging J. I'm pretty sick of it, and really think that she needs to bitch at my sister instead. The contact restrictions are not J's fault, they're my idiot sister's. If she stepped up, vaccinated her spawn, and quit depending on the rest of society to keep her children safe from disease, there wouldn't be a problem. Herd immunity, while valuable, is not enough to protect individuals. Failing to contribute is irresponsible. I'm not suprised, as she is a leech on my parents (and anyone else she can scam), but it really pisses me off. Selfish bitch.
Okay, time for happy thoughts! I like puppies and babies and rainbows! I like the smell of bread baking and looking at the stars under a clear night sky!
Do you feel better now? I do.

Going to Tulalip on Sunday

The bar league is having its season championship this Sunday at the Tulalip's poker room. I'm a lock for one of the divisions (top 7 points finishers get a seat), and hope to qualify in two others for additional starting chips. I am confident that I can take at least one more, and even two is looking good. I even have an outside chance at 4, but I'd have to do extraordinarily well on the last night in the division I'm getting smacked down in. I think a first place finish there with a couple of bounties would push me high enough, but that's a stretch. Possible, but not plausible.
Tonight I must remember to gam800l! it up, as it's sit 'n' go time. It pays to be a LAgg there.
